Halo™

Fractional lasers can do wonders for your skin’s texture and brightness, and Halo™ is a leader in its class. At Louisiana Women’s Aesthetics in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, the dedicated team of aesthetic medicine and spa service experts performs skin resurfacing with minimal downtime using Halo to treat fine lines, acne scars, melasma, and other common types of visible damage.

What is Halo?

Halo is the world’s first hybrid fractional laser that combines deep dermal rejuvenation with epidermal renewal for a combined synergistic effect you can’t get with any other treatment.

The result? Dramatic skincare transformations without the lengthy downtime required of traditional lasers.

How does Halo differ from other lasers?

Compared to other laser treatments, Halo offers the best of both worlds: Great results with less downtime.  What makes the Halo laser unique is that it simultaneously delivers both fractional (ablative) and non-fractional (non-ablative) wavelengths to the same area. With one pass, a patient will receive a fully customized treatment that addresses skin concerns in the epidermis as well as the dermis. This combination helps smooth texture irregularities, shrink pore size, fade dark spots, and treat wrinkles in the same treatment session.

How can my skin benefit from Halo?

The Halo laser is ideal for treating a variety of skin issues on almost any skin type, at any age. It precisely targets years of damage to your skin, including:

  • Fine lines and wrinkles
  • Diffuse sun damage
  • Uneven texture and tone
  • Acne scars
  • Melasma

Additionally, the Halo laser can be used on the body. Popular off-face treatments include the neck, chest, arms, hands, and legs.

What will my Halo treatment experience be like?

With a topical anesthetic and integrated cooling technology, most patients experience only mild discomfort during their Halo skin resurfacing treatment.

Most patients describe the treatment as a feeling of heat with occasional prickling sensations but are generally comfortable. A device is used to apply the laser energy in short bursts. After the treatment, we use a technique to cool the skin.

What can I expect after my Halo procedure?

Immediately following the procedure, you will experience redness, swelling, and a sensation resembling a sunburn. Depending on the depth of your personalized treatment, you may be able to return to work within within 2-3 days after your Halo treatment.  More aggressive treatments may require more downtime. These types of goals will be discussed at your initial consultation at Louisiana Women’s Aesthetics.

Immediately following treatment, there will be erythema (redness) at the treatment site. This may last 2-4 days. The treated area will feel like an intense sunburn for the first two hours and then the heat will minimize. Some patients may continue to experience mild heat and redness for 3-5 days after treatment.

Edema/swelling is very common post-treatment and may continue days following treatment (especially around the eyes/cheeks). Days 3-5, you will notice tiny dark spots and a bronzed appearance to the skin. This is called MENDS (microscopic epidermal necrotic debris). This is part of the healing process where treated tissue is moving to the surface to slough off and new fresh skin is regenerated. During this time, your skin will itch and will become very dry like sandpaper. For most, the peeling process is complete days 5-10, but all patients heal differently.

When will I see the improvement in my skin and how long will my Halo results last?

Once your MENDS has resolved, you will notice an immediate glow to your skin. At this point, most pigmentation has flaked off and your skin tone appears more even and vibrant. The skin texture changes as well as the improvement of fine lines and wrinkles will improve within 2-3 months and continue in months following.

Your Halo results will last for years to come, but you should continue to keep your skin protected at all times using UV sunscreen to protect your new, healthy skin.  A medical-grade skin care regimen will also fully enhance your results. Each additional Halo treatment you get will only improve the results.

Am I a candidate for Halo?

Halo is safe for all skin types, with aggressive treatments  better tolerated by fair skin tones. Halo is the best option to reverse damage from years of sun exposure and premature aging. If you feel your skin is looking older than your age. this is the right treatment for you.
